IT spending in 2018 is increasing at a rate of 6.2% over last year, representing the highest annual growth rate that Gartner has forecast since 2007 largely because of the declining U.S. dollar, said John-David Lovelock, chief forecaster at Gartner.
“A big piece of this is currency tailwinds,” Mr. Lovelock said. “The declining U.S. dollar means that money earned abroad translates into more U.S. dollars.”
That means 2018 will be a good year for U.S. companies trying to bring money home from global operations, he said.
